We’re working with a well-established and growing roofing contractor. Known for their high-quality systems, technical expertise, and long-standing partnerships across public and private sectors, they are now looking to appoint a Technical Director to lead and develop their technical function across the UK.
This is a senior leadership role overseeing product performance, system innovation, compliance, technical support, and installation quality. The successful candidate will bring a good understanding of roofing and waterproofing systems (or similar), strong leadership capability, and a commercial mindset that supports the broader strategic goals of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the technical team covering system covering system development, specification support, compliance, and site-related services.
Ensure all systems and solutions meet current and emerging UK building regulations, industry standards and sustainability goals.
Oversee product/system testing, certifications, and approvals in line with BBA,NHBC and other relevant bodies.
Work closely with commercial, sales, and design teams to support key projects, drive specifications and deliver technical solutions that add value.
Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including contractors, consultants, testing houses and warranty providers.
Champion continuous improvement and innovation across products systems, technical process, and customer support.
Contribute to business strategy and growth planning as part of the senior leadership team.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in a senior technical role within roofing, waterproofing, building envelope or related construction product sector.
Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, technical standards (e.g. BS,EN) and industry certification bodies (e.g. BBA, NHBC)
Leadership experience managing technical teams, ideally including specification, compliance, and site support functions.
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business strategy and project delivery.
